Multi-Echo Tricks Acquisition (META): a high spatio-temporal resolution multi-point Dixon sequence for dynamic contrast enhanced MRI
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction: Dynamic contrast enhanced MRI (DCEMRI) is widely used in clinical abdominal and pelvic MRI for tissue characterization and visualization of focal lesions. The technique affords adequate spatial resolution but temporal resolution is often insufficient for visualizing hypervascular tumors such as neuro-endocrine metastases and hepato-cellular carcinoma (HCC). Optimal timing of contrast arrival in the organ of interest is critical in capturing “arterial” phases and improving lesion conspicuity. Furthermore, traditional fat suppression methods perform suboptimally at 3T due to Bo and B1 inhomogeneities, causing non-uniform fat suppression across the image. We report a new DCEMRI technique called META (Multi-Echo Tricks Acquisition) that combines a multi-echo TRICKS [1] scan with a two-point Dixon fat-water reconstruction algorithm [2] to generate fat-only and water-only images at very high spatiotemporal resolution.

Introduction: Dynamic contrast enhanced MRI (DCEMRI) is commonly used in abdominal-pelvic imaging for detection and characterization of primary and metastatic lesions. Current methods have adequate spatial resolution but the temporal resolution is often insufficient for visualization of hypervascular tumors. Optimal timing of the contrast arrival and robust fat suppression are the two critical ...
متن کاملUse of a Two-point Dixon Vibe Sequence for Post-contrast Liver Mri: Comparison with Standard Chemically-selective Fat-suppressed Vibe for Image Quality and Lesion Detection
Introduction: Dynamic gadolinium-enhanced T1-weighted images are a critical component of clinical liver MRI examinations for focal lesion detection and characterization. This is typically performed as a 3D acquisition using chemically-selective fat-saturation, as demonstrated by the volumetric interpolated breath-hold examination (VIBE) sequence. A limitation of this approach is that chemically...
متن کامل3T Breast MRI using Dixon technique
Introduction: Breast MRI is a highly sensitive imaging tool for the diagnosis and staging of breast cancers. High spatial resolution is a requirement to ensure accurate lesion evaluation, along with fat suppression for assessment of lesion morphology and margins. Active fat suppression such as by chemical shift selective saturation requires homogeneous magnetic field across the entire field-of-...

PURPOSE To develop and evaluate a multiphasic contrast-enhanced MRI method called DIfferential Sub-sampling with Cartesian Ordering (DISCO) for abdominal imaging. MATERIALS AND METHODS A three-dimensional, variable density pseudo-random k-space segmentation scheme was developed and combined with a Dixon-based fat-water separation algorithm to generate high temporal resolution images with robu...
